There’s a fresh face at Highbrook Medical, and we’re absolutely delighted to introduce her to you – meet Dr Manisha Anand, our bubbly, passionate, and all-round lovely new GP!
Originally trained in Australia, Dr Manisha brings a wealth of experience, a strong focus on preventive care, and a whole lot of positive energy to our team. She studied at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, where she completed both her Bachelor of Health Science and MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery), graduating in 2014.
After finishing her studies, she spent several years gaining hands-on experience in regional hospitals across Australia before diving headfirst into general practice. She completed her fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) in 2019 and has been caring for patients in GP clinics across the country ever since.
And while her journey has included a few back-and-forth trips across the Tasman – including a stint in New Zealand in 2022 – she’s now back in Aotearoa for good. “I’ve done the back and forth,” she laughs, “but this time I’m here to stay. I love being close to the community I live in, and I’m really excited to be part of the Highbrook Medical team.”
What does Dr Manisha love about being a GP?
“I’m really passionate about preventive care. If we can catch things early and help people manage their health before problems develop, that’s where real change happens.”
Her clinical interests include:
- Chronic disease management – helping patients navigate long-term conditions with confidence and clarity.
- Paediatrics – she’s completed a Diploma in Child Health through the University of Sydney and absolutely loves working with children and families.
- Dermatology and skin cancer medicine – skin health is a big area of interest for Dr Manisha, and she enjoys supporting patients with everything from acne to mole checks.
- She’s also keen to explore travel medicine in the future – so stay tuned!
What really sets her apart is her holistic approach. Dr Manisha doesn’t just treat symptoms; she looks at the full picture – lifestyle, environment, stress, family, and more. “Health isn’t just physical,” she says. “There’s always more going on, and I love being able to connect the dots for my patients.”
Outside of the clinic…
When she’s not wearing her stethoscope, Dr Manisha is out soaking up life in all its colour. She loves long walks and hiking, is an avid home cook, enjoys photography and music, and has a long-standing passion for Indian classical dancing. “I’ve been dancing on and off for years,” she says. “I took a break during uni, but got back into it last year and I’m loving it again.”
She also speaks Fijian Hindi and Hindi, which helps her connect with even more of our diverse South Auckland community.
When can you see her?
Dr Manisha is available for appointments on Mondays and Thursdays, and is looking forward to getting to know her patients and supporting their health journeys. Whether it’s a check-up, a skin concern, help managing a long-term condition, or advice for your tamariki, you’ll be in caring, capable hands.
We’re thrilled to have Dr Manisha at Highbrook Medical and can’t wait for you to meet her.
