IV Infusion Treatment of Osteoporosis

Osteoporosis can be a ‘silent thief’ slowly decreasing bone strength.  Fragility fractures are fractures that occur more easily than you’d expect. Osteoporosis IV Infusions can be given if a Bone Density Scan has diagnosed osteoporosis. This osteoporosis medication improves bone density, strengthen weakened bones and reduces future fractures.

IV infusions for Osteoporosis Treatment

Osteoporosis is a skeletal disorder where bone strength begins to deteriorate.  Generally, this is because of bone loss as we age.  Thin and weak bones are more susceptible to fractures, and can occur due to everyday circumstances and seemingly minor accidents. Osteoporosis is most common in those over 50, and will affect 50% of females, and about 30% of men aged over 60. As there is a genetic link to Osteoporosis it’s a good idea to get checked if you have a history in your whānau.

Preventative care for osteoporosis includes maintaining a balanced diet rich in Vitamin C and D, not smoking, reducing alcohol, including frequent weight-bearing activities in our movement and exercise. Osteoporosis medication can be prescribed to rebuild and maintain bone health whilst reducing the chance of fragility fractures.

We offer  Osteoporosis Intravenous Infusion Therapy Treatments at our Highbrook clinic, alongside other osteoporosis medications depending on your symptoms and diagnosis.

Following the new patient appointment as above, you can book your first consultation with your nominated doctor.

All GP appointments are 15 minutes long.

  • One appointment is for a single health issue.

Patient portals are secure online sites where patients can access their health information and interact with their general practice. Set up access to your patient portal at or email Info@highbrookmedical.co.nz if you would like help.

We recommend that you plan ahead and request your repeat medicines via your patient portal My Indici two weeks before you run out.
